Measurements are not particularly important in this recipe - just remember that the popcorn will absorb a LOT of water during the cooking process, so check it often to make sure that it hasn't boiled dry

Rice

Basic Rice Recipe
2 c. cooked rice
4 c. cooked mixed veggies
1 c. high protein baby cereal
1 T. Vitapreen or other good bird vitamin
Mix well. Freeze in small freezer bags. Break off pieces as needed, heat, and serve. Other items you can add are cooked macaroni, beans, raisins, or chopped figs.

Mixed Veggies and Rice
1 cup of rice
1 pound bags of (corn, peas, and broccoli)
1/2 cup green raisins
1/4 cup currants
1/4 cup uncooked couscous
1/4 cup uncooked bulgur wheat.
Boil brown rice quite fast, unlike cooking rice for humans. This way the rice is crunchy in the middle. You can supplement or exchange any of the veggies with fresh veggies like chopped broccoli, grated carrots, green beans, eggplant, squashes, partially cooked sweet potatoes, fresh corn on the cob, apple, etc. Use your imagination.
I use this amount every four days because I have alot of birds. If you only have one or two, mix up the same way only don't thaw the frozen veggies. Put amounts equal to two days of servings in plastic bags and freeze.

Power Lunch

Add to this freshcut-up vegetables such as celery, bell pepper, peas, beans, squash, or mixed vegetables, or brussels sprouts. Serve warm.

Soft Food Recipe
1 cup long grain brown rice (organic if possible)
1/4 cup mixed beans (lentils, limas, garbanzo, etc.)
2 1/2 cups water
Add beans to water, bring to a boil, then turn down and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the water has been absorbed from the mixture. Remove from heat and add frozen corn and peas to your preference, usually about 1 cup of corn and 1/2 cup of peas will do, but your bird may enjoy more or less of these veggies. Let stand a while as the frozen vegetables cook a bit, probably about 10 or 15 minutes.
*Chop carrots, apples, oranges, sweet potatoes, peppers (red), broccoli, squash, and other vegetable that is handy and fresh (corn on the cob, peas from the garden, etc.), into bird bite sized pieces. Add them to the mixture of beans and rice.*Sprinkle lightly with a good quality bird vitamin powder, acidophilus culture, and Spirulina and stir into mixture.Chop firm, lowfat tofu into bite-sized chunks and mix it in. Serve with chopped grapes on top.Do not leave this out for very long, as it will start to spoil. Should be removed before nightfall, or if it starts to smell spoiled.

Millet and Rice
1 part cup cooked hulled millet
1 part cup white rice, cooked
1 part cup brown rice, cooked
Soak millet in water for 20 minutes prior to cooking. Mix together with rice and serve warmed.

Birdie Treats
Boil some wild rice (they loves the dark grains most).
Boil some beans (white, kidney...).
Bake a yam.
Cook some polenta.
